Who is Kathy Sharp & how did I get here?

I was born in Washington State and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with my 4 brothers and 1 sister. My family moved to Tampa, Florida while I was in high school.  After graduating from Chamberlian High School, I attended USF.  I graduated with a Bachelor's  degree in Business Finance.

After working for three years in the banking industry at Barnett Bank in Bradenton, Florida I realized I was not content with just "going to work" anymore...I wanted to make an impact on someone's life....I wanted to TEACH !!

I followed my heart and returned to USF where I completed my education degree.  My first teaching job combined by business talents and my love of teaching. I taught Busines Education at Manatee Vo-Tec.

“My students were enthusiastic, moldable and enjoyed learning how to use the computers.” At Vo-Tec , I taught employability skills to single or displaced mothers. “It was so rewarding to know that I was making a difference in the lives of those women, many of whom faced monumental challenges.”   After eight years at MTI, I taught high school at Southeast and Lakewood Ranch High Schools where I taught business computer applications to freshmen and loved it.  I returned to USF one more time to complete my Master's degree in Computer Technology.  Furthering my education enabled me to become an Instructional  Technology Specialist.  I left the classroom to work at the district level to further my impact on the teaching and learning envirnoment through the integration of technology in classrooms.

I have been an Instructional Technology Specialist for over 10 years now.  The best and worst part of my job is the changing of technology.  It is great to be on the cuspt of new & emerging technologies, but it is hard keeping up.  Every day there is something new to learn in my job!!!
